Rebecca Wood-Deichert, Program Director
Rebecca has a long sales and marketing background with a specialty in project management. She worked her way up from entry-level administrative support roles to Marketing Manager for a national Non-Profit organization.
For the last 18 years, Rebecca has owned and operated Palm Yoga, a local yoga school in North Tampa. She studied Iyengar Yoga for years which influenced her unique teaching style that includes correct alignment, breath work and meditation delivered in an engaging manner.
During the Jiu Jitsu Warriors 10-year clinical research study with the University of South Florida, Rebecca is the program coordinator working directly with participants and USF. She has utilized all of the operations and management skills developed over her twenty years working in both corporate and non-profit settings to develop Balanced Life Warriors. Rebecca is task-oriented, detailed and able to manage different projects and people to make sure that all efforts are directed to supporting the mission of the organization.

Ryan Deichert
Ryan is the owner and head instructor of Tampa Jiu Jitsu, and a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt.
Ryan Deichert has been studying Gracie Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) since 1993. He began his training in Philadelphia at the First Gracie Jiu-Jitsu association in America. A few years after beginning his career in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Ryan won the first Gracie Jiu-Jitsu tournament in the east coast. To further his studies, Ryan moved to Los Angeles to train with the UFC legend, Royce Gracie at the Gracie Academy in Torrance, CA. Ryan was determined to become one of the first Americans to become a black belt in this revolutionary martial art.
During his stay at the Gracie Academy, Ryan helped Royce train for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and won several tournaments and in-house competitions.
He opened Tampa Jiu-Jitsu in 2007 to share the teaching method that was founded by Grand Master Helio Gracie and to extend the Team Balance International fight team to Florida.

Brian Busch, Senior Instructor
Brian competed in folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling from 3rd grade until his senior year of H.S. He disregarded scholarship opportunities for college to join the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17. Brian is a combat veteran who served in support of Intelligence and Special Operations units in every major military conflict between 1988 and 2009. He received a gunshot wound during combat operations in Mogadishu, Somalia and received a Purple Heart. He retired from the Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant (“Gunny”) in 2009 after 21 years of service. While in the Marines, Brian participated in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and realized martial arts was something he very much enjoyed and wanted to continue. Brian’s kids, Julia and Daniel, started training with Ryan Deichert at Tampa Jiu Jitsu in 2010. Brian followed shortly thereafter and became a certified instructor under Ryan and a Team Balance member. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration: Law Enforcement from Park University, Parkville, MO, in 2001, graduating magna cum laude, and a Master of Science degree in Intelligence Studies: Cyber Intelligence from the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, in 2018, and was recognized as the Student Veteran of the Year in 2018 for both graduating with a 4.0 and his work in support of veterans. Brian earned his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2020. He has a strong desire to support fellow Wounded Warriors and veterans with combat trauma/PTSD. He hasparticipated in all iterations of USF’s ongoing study to research the effectiveness of Jiu Jitsu and Yoga as complementary alternative methods of therapy for veterans suffering from combat trauma and/or PTSD.
